This is a compilation of questions from previous tests during the semester. I have taken our the multiple choices, maps, and diagrams. You do not need to answer these questions, nor is it an assignment. This was simply created to remind students of previous topics on assessments. I hope this helps, but your best study guide will be your notebooks and the rest of the website (Current Events and Assignments).

Students were introduced to a topic that has made headlines here in the United States, the treatment, laws, and stigmas attached to the LGBTI community. We talked about being able to understand and empathize with the struggle of others, which is what this video helps us do...walk in the shoes of a transgender person while attempting to modify a passport. Then, we visited the site of the ILGA branch in Europe, and watched their Year in Review, compiling their successes and the plan for 2017.
Students continued their research of Europe by focusing on the eastern region. We talked about the drama of the Orange Revolution and the 2010 elections in the Ukraine, before discussing the potential trade deal with the European Union that was not signed by the President, sparking protests. The film, found on Netflix, is a documentary that chronicles the events of the 2013-2014 winter of protest turned revolution. This led to discussion of the Russian annex of the Crimea, and the current state of the State.
Students continue their research on Europe by reading Chapter 13.3 in their textbooks and completing a simple outline, using the format discussed in class.
After discussion of Northern Europe, the class watched two short videos, produced by a Swedish trade union, that acts as educational entertainment. We discussed the elements within the lyrics in the first video including collective bargaining, universal health insurance, paid leave, and work environments. After watching the second video, we talked about paid maternal/paternal leave, strong pension/retirement plans, health and wellness, and paid vacations.
After discussion of the happiest countries in the world, we discussed "why?". We talked about some of the elements of society that we would change, then watched a few minutes of the Bernie Sanders interview that discusses why he things we should look a little bit more like Scandinavian countries. Paying for the Welfare State in Scandinavian Countries
Students research Western Europe by reading Chapter 13.2 in their textbooks. Students are expected to read thoroughly, then create an outline according to the format modeled and practiced in class. I suggest a simplistic outline, but that depends on how well you can comprehend and remember the material from the reading.
In one page (minimum), students will construct an essay that describes the events of the 14th Century "Bubonic Plague" in Europe and examples of modern health care that address the concerns of re-living this history. During the 14th century, Europe faced the Bubonic Plague. Health professionals since have taken precautions to limit the effects of mass disease. Prompt: Describe the events of the bubonic plague and discuss at least two specific examples of modern health care that would address concerns of this event happening again. **Be sure to write the prompt ABOVE the first line**
Students begin their research on the human geography of Europe by exploring the Mediterranean region. Students are expected to read Chapter 13.1, then create a well-organized outline (according to previous lessons). Remember, a more detailed outline will help those that have difficulty with memorization! Expect a quiz in class!
After reading about Yusra Mardini, a Syrian refugee that competed in the Olympics, we talked about how she must be a huge inspiration for refugees throughout the world. This Nike commercial is a take on "Freaky Friday" where one boy get to live his dream as his idol, Christiano Ronaldo.
